festivals every state has it’s unique flavor of festivals and somewhere in some
part of India there is some important festival going on each The southern state
of India Kerala is very colorful historic and religious.

During the period of mid April to
mid may each year a very important festival takes place at Thrissur and the
festival is known as the Thrissur pooram festival. This is a great event of
religious and touristic importance and thousands of visitors come each year to
participate in the festival from different parts of the world. this is equally
known as the festival of elephants. Besides devotion music and an excellent
display of fancy fireworks are the highlights of the festival. the UNESCO has
mentioned the festival as one of the most spectacular festival on the globe.The
Vadakkunathan temple in Thrissur hosts the festival.
The actual festival Competition takes place between the
two other temples Paramekkavu Bhagavathy and Thiruvambadi Bhagavethy who
compete in organizing the musical concerts of both vocal and instrumental. The
musicians come from different parts of India and the tourists they get the life
time opportunity of hearing some finest display of the music.Around fifty
decorated elephants stand in front of the temple and the priests sitting on the
elephants exchange the colorful umbrellas and chant the holy prayers. The head
to toe decorated elephants with golden head dress and the beautifully painted
bodies are a spectacle to watch. The sight is divine in nature and this is some
thing which can only be experienced but the words fall short in their power to
describe such a sublime event. On the last day of the festival around 2.00 am at the night the fancy fire works display starts for which
each temple had been preparing since last few months.Thrissur is very well
connected by road and rail route and for those having not much time at their
side can come to the place by air as well.
